The Kolara Buffer Zone of Tadoba–Andhari Tiger Reserve is vast, diverse, and rich in stories. This zone can be entered through multiple gates — Chauradev, Madnapur, Belara, Palashgaon, Shirkheda, and Alizanza — each offering a slightly different approach to the same wild heart.
Chauradev & Madnapur — Junabai's domain. Chauradev and Madnapur gates lead into the same forest stretch, sharing landscapes, water sources, and tiger territories. For the past seven years, this region has been ruled by Junabai — calm yet commanding, a true matriarch whose legacy is defined by the powerful males who walked beside her: Kankazari Male in the early phase, then the legendary Matkasur, then Tala Male, and currently Xylo, a rising force from the Bajrang bloodline.
Belara — Veera's territory. Belara carries forward the legacy of Junabai through her daughter Veera, widely known as one of the boldest tigresses in the region. Confident, fearless, commanding — a reflection of her mother, while carving her own chapter alongside her companion Xylo.
Palashgaon — Bela & Xylo. Once permitted only for night safaris, this zone was reopened for day drives after TATR commendably stopped night safaris to protect wildlife. Today the dominant female is Bela — calm, confident, firmly in control. By her side is Xylo, the reigning male, with the powerful bloodline of Bajrang flowing through him.
Shirkheda — A zone of lakes and legends. Wide open spaces, changing terrain, and beautiful lakes scattered across the forest. Long ruled by Heena and Choti Rani — Choti Rani in particular carries the bloodline of the legendary Dadiyal. Sharing this territory are dominant males Charger and V7. The zone is also special for sightings of the endangered Chowsingha (Four-Horned Antelope).
