Moharli Core & Buffer Safari — Land of Canopies & the Backwaters of Irai

This is one of the finest safari experiences in Tadoba for wildlife lovers who want to explore not just tiger territory, but also the incredible variety of landscapes that make this region so special. From dense forests and bamboo patches to the beautiful backwaters of the Irai River, the Moharli landscape offers a perfect blend of wilderness, scenic beauty, and thrilling tiger movement. The buffer forests around Moharli have produced some of Tadoba's most well-known tigers — including Shambu, Y Mark, W Female, Raka Male, Choti Madhu, and Sundari. This expedition covers some of the most active and exciting safari zones connected to the Moharli landscape, from Junona, Agarzari, Dewada, Adegaon and Mamla gates of the Moharli Buffer Range. These buffer zones are known for excellent wildlife movement and offer a raw, peaceful safari experience away from crowded tourism routes. The journey becomes even more exciting as the expedition moves into the legendary Moharli Core Zone. Two safaris will be conducted in the core area, either through the famous Moharli Gate or the highly regarded Khutwanda Gate. Among wildlife photographers and experienced safari travellers, Khutwanda Core Gate is often considered one of the best core entries of Tadoba–Andhari Tiger Reserve because of the time taken to approach the tiger movement areas. What makes Moharli Core truly special is the incredible bloodlines that continue to dominate these forests. Here you may encounter the descendants of Tadoba's legendary tigers — Collarwali (from the bloodline of matriarch Madhuri and daughter of W Female), Roma (Choti Tara bloodline), Bijlee (also Choti Tara) and C3 (daughter of Sonam, Madhuri's bloodline). The dominant males often seen in this landscape include Chota Dadiyal, Yuvraj, Collarwala Male, Mowgli, and Balaram. Every safari in Moharli feels like stepping into an ongoing story of territories, rivalries, motherhood, and survival — making it one of the most exciting tiger landscapes in all of Tadoba. Best to book 120 days in advance.
