Moharli and the Chora Territorial
The forests of Tadoba are not divided by safari gates, tourism maps, or buffer and core boundaries. For the tigers, it is one vast and connected wilderness. And one of the most fascinating examples of this connection can be seen between the famous Moharli buffer forests and the lesser-explored Chora Territorial landscape. Over the years, the Moharli side of Tadoba has become legendary for its incredible tiger movement and dominant bloodlines. The forests around Junona, Adegaon, Agarzari, Dewada, and Mamla have produced some of the reserve's most celebrated tigers and unforgettable safari stories. But beyond these well-known buffer forests lies another quieter and rugged wilderness — the forests of Chora Territorial. This landscape feels raw, untouched, and deeply wild. Dense bamboo patches, dry riverbeds, hidden jungle trails, and scenic backwater stretches create a natural corridor connecting Moharli and Chora. These forests allow tigers to move freely between territories, making the entire landscape dynamic and constantly changing. Dominant males often patrol through these connected forests while expanding territories, searching for mates, or avoiding stronger rivals. Young dispersing tigers also use these routes while trying to establish their own territories — and because of this constant movement, Chora has slowly emerged as one of the most exciting and lesser-explored tiger landscapes of Tadoba. What makes this region truly special is the feeling of silence and wilderness. Unlike the more crowded safari circuits, the Chora side offers a more intimate jungle experience — where every alarm call, pugmark, or fresh scent mark feels meaningful. For wildlife lovers, the connection between Moharli Buffers and Chora Territorial is a reminder that Tadoba is not simply a collection of safari gates — it is one living, breathing forest connected by the movement and stories of its magnificent tigers.
