Tadoba Kolara Range — Land of Lakes
The Kolara landscape is a mix of lakes and mountains. Well-known waterbodies like Jamni Lake and 97 Waterhole make it famous for its tiger movements, and the hilltop area is part of the Chimur hills — roughly 350 metres above sea level. Jamni meadows have been the kingdom of the legendary matriarch of Tadoba, Choti Tara. This is also where Tadoba's most fearsome male, Chota Matka, grew up to adulthood alongside his brother. Matkasur was the most dominant male in this part of Tadoba for nearly a decade, and after his regime Yuvraj has been the longest-serving male tiger of the region. Choti Tara also raised her daughters Roma and Bijlee. Bijlee took over the area more recently and raised the current king of the Kolsa Buffers, Chota Mama. Then comes the famous Tadoba Lake, ruled by Balaram for four years now alongside Roma. The entire Kolara and Navegaon range of core is today ruled by the bloodlines of Choti Tara. Major attraction of the Kolara Core zone: Bijlee and Roma with their cubs. Best to book this package 120 days in advance.
